Goin' green's bin real nice
Custom-designed sheds now part of how T.O.'s trashing it in city of the 21st century
Torontonians need not suffer the indignity of exposing their clunky garbage and recycling bins on their front stoops for all to see.
Toronto-based Bin Solutions (bin solutions.ca) has custom-designed cedar shed kits that neatly hold all three City of Toronto bins, with a little extra room for storage. The bins are also raccoon-proof.

Three years ago, Zion Shraiter, an Israeli general contractor, pulled up stakes and moved from Tel Aviv to Toronto with his wife, a documentary filmmaker. Soon after arriving, he found himself aghast at the sight of piles of recycling bins and garbage cans strewn across the front porches and driveways of every house in his new neighbourhood.
"I was shocked," says Shraiter, a tall, sinewy man with a talkative streak. In Tel Aviv, builders can't get a construction permit unless their plans include an enclosed storage area for waste bins.

When can an entrepreneur's wildest dream come true?
When he or she spots an urgent, widespread problem and comes up with a unique and limitlessly scalable remedy. That's just what's happening at a now tiny but sky's-the-limit Toronto company called Bin Solutions.
Its founder and president, Zion Shraiter, says his inspiration for creating the handsome containers for garbage cans and recycling bins and boxes that are his sole stock in trade was the shock he got when he first emigrated to Toronto several years ago.
"It was so nice and clean here and everybody was so welcoming and polite," the Israeli native recalls.
